Ciena Job Responsibilities:
As a member of Ciena, your role entails:
- Automating data collection and resolution of issues.
- Providing remote technical support for identified CIENA products 24×7, including weekends and evenings.
- Collaborating with senior engineers to address field issues and aiding communication with Design and Supply Chain teams.
- Using debug tools and lab research to assist in solving customer technical problems.
- Gathering necessary information for escalating incidents/issues to senior engineers, which could involve Engineering/Design, Product/Project Management, Documentation, or Training.
- Offering Customer feedback to Quality Assurance, Design, Product Management, Technical Publications, and Training.
- Contributing to the publication of MOP/ISB/FSB documents.
- Contributing to the knowledgebase (KCS).
- Performing the role of a Customer Lead Engineer for specific clients.
- Performing Resident Engineering functions either on-site or remotely.
- Traveling to customer sites and Ciena locations globally.
Qualcomm Eligibility Criteria:
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical field (e.g., Engineering, Computer Science) from a four-year college or university, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 0-3 years of related experience.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience in automating tasks using scripting languages like JavaScript and Python.
- Basic understanding of the operation of fiber optic transport and/or switching equipment.
- Preferably, experience in a technical support role with a telecommunications equipment vendor.
- Basic problem-solving experience with OTN/SONET/SDH equipment, Carrier Ethernet equipment, or related fiber optic facilities.
