Morningstar Job Responsibilities:
- Create and manage multiple databases and capacity planning.
- Monitor and maintain database systems and troubleshoot problems as they arise.
- Ensure data integrity and security by managing roles and permissions of database users.
- Utilize tools like SQL Profiler for database tuning, generate traces, execution plans, identify performance bottlenecks, deadlocks/contention, and resolve them.
- Optimize SQL queries and ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes.
- Create and manage constraints and indexes.
- Provide support to software developers with database operations, including developing complex SQL, tuning DML (Data Manipulation Language), and creating stored procedures.
- Develop user-defined functions, aggregates, and table functions.
- Translate user requirements and needs into database schema and table designs.
- Manage production, QA (Quality Assurance), Stage, and development database environments.
- Create detailed documentation, including diagrams of database infrastructure.
- Learn relevant business processes, understand data flow, criticality, and dependencies.
- Effectively coordinate and communicate with all stakeholders, including internal teams and clients.
Morningstar Eligibility Criteria:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science or equivalent.
- Minimum of 4-7 years of experience in MSSQL Database development using SQL Server 2016/2017/2019 versions.
Preferred skills:
- Proven SQL skills in performance tuning and creating efficient stored procedures and functions.
- Experience in SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) and SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS).
- Sound knowledge of RDBMS concepts, database architecture, and SQL/T-SQL.
- Proficiency with SQL Server Profiler for monitoring and troubleshooting database activity and performance.
- Ability to develop procedure documents and maintain detailed database-related documents.
- An innovative approach to work, constantly seeking to upgrade systems with more efficient and effective new technologies.
- Able to organize work efficiently and perform well under stress, changing priorities, and time constraints.
